Catherine Campbell
In August 2025, I completed a M.S. in Geographic Information Science and Technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2024, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Ecology from the University of Georgia with minors in Biology and Photography and a certificate in GIS. I am currently based in Atlanta, Georgia.
I am interested in ecosystem dynamics, climate resilience, and environmental justice. I use geospatial data, remote sensing, and geovisualization to analyze environmental processes and make complex information more accessible to the public.
Below are my favorite GIS projects from classes and my capstone project as well as a gallery of personal photography projects.
Hello! Welcome to my portfolio.
Land Use/Land Cover Tool
Suitability analysis evaluating seafloor substrate, bathymetry, and sea surface temperature to identify areas along the California coast with the highest potential for kelp forest growth.
Kelp Forest Collapse Predictive Model
M.S. Capstone Project using remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and ecological metrics to investigate kelp forest collapse along the California coast.
Habitat Capability Analysis
ArcPy tool developed for a Programming for GIS course to automate raster clipping, reclassification, and polygon conversion. Designed for user input and adaptable to a variety of land use datasets.
Federal Employment Vulnerability Index
Socioeconomic GIS course project measuring county-level dependence on federal employment and socioeconomic conditions to assess relative vulnerability to workforce changes.
